Why Do You Need to Replace?
All add-on child passenger restraints have a designated service life in accordance with industry standards. After this period of time, an add-on child restraint is no longer considered as usable for the safe transportation of children and use should be discontinued.The most popular add-on restraint for school buses, the SafeGuard STAR, has a service life of six (6) years. The date of manufacture can be found on a label sewn to the cam wrap web near where it connects to the seat base. The new SafeGuard SuperSTAR has a service life of seven (7) years and the restraint model number and manufacture date are located on a label sewn to the webbing above the seating platform.
To participate in the SafeGuard Summer Exchange program, IMMI requires that you cut a label with the webbing it’s sewn to from the retired product and ship it to IMMI. IMMI will e-mail you a coupon for $15 off a new STAR or $25 off a new SuperSTAR that can be applied to the purchase of any new SafeGuard STAR restraint(s) with an authorized distributor of your choice.

Step 1. Cut product information label with webbing it’s sewn to from the product as specified in this short video:
The label MUST be attached to the webbing or it will not be accepted.

Step 2. Complete the form below. You will receive an email with instructions on where to mail your cut labels back to IMMI.
Step 3. Ship the participation form and label(s) to:

Note: In order to participate in the program, your label(s) with webbing must be received by September 30, 2024.
Step 4. Within two days of IMMI receiving your form and labels, you will receive an e-mail with a coupon that you can use to order your new SafeGuard STAR restraint(s).
Step 5. Place your SafeGuard STAR order with an authorized distributor, using your coupon to verify your involvement in the SafeGuard Summer Exchange program. One $15 or $25 coupon is valid per SafeGuard STAR or SuperSTAR restraint purchased. The distributor will discount your purchase accordingly. Purchases using the coupon must be made before December 31, 2024.
