| Westfield, Indiana
November 11, 2003 -The SafeGuard
brand of child safety products from IMMI has expanded to add-on restraints
for the school bus industry. The SafeGuard STAR, Student Transportation
Add-on Restraint, can be used with any current school bus seat, and
utilizes cam wrap technology with a five-point restraint with a flexible
base to securely restrain children weighing 25 to 65 pounds. STAR
was developed and designed to help transportation programs meet the
requirements for Title 45 Head Start which takes effect on January
20, 2004 and requires transportation programs to provide height and
weight appropriate child restraint systems.
"The SafeGuard STAR has several distinct features that school
districts will find beneficial to their transportation programs,"
said Don Boyle, SafeGuard STAR product manager. "The STAR is
one size fits all, which means the restraint can stay with the school
bus, eliminating the restraint from leaving the bus with the child,
and it easily fits a variety of children with convenient adjusters.
STAR also features a quick release, just one buckle and a chest
clip, making it simple and easy to unbuckle a child from the restraint.
These unique features could mean both a savings in cost, and in
time, two important aspects of a transportation program."
The SafeGuard STAR is a new addition to the SafeGuard line of child
restraint product from IMMI, the largest child restraint developer
and manufacturer in the world, developing and testing new and innovative
restraint products for child passengers for the past twenty-five
years. STAR has been tested at IMMI's test facility CAPE (Center
for Advance Product Evaluation) and meets all requirements of FMVSS
213 and 302.
"A restraint that is easy to install, simple for drivers to
use and properly fits a child is the best form of safety a school
transportation program can offer their passengers." Said Don
Boyle. "The adjusters makes it easy to fit the STAR to a child,
and the one buckle and chest clip also offers a quick release in
an emergency situation."
The SafeGuard STAR is competitively priced compared to purchasing
vests and cam wraps, and will be introduced to the school bus industry
at the National Association for Pupil Transportation Show (NAPT)
November 10th in Salt Lake City, Utah. School transportation directors
can purchase the STAR at the
NAPT Show or on the internet at the SafeGuard Store at www.safeguardseat.com.
The internet store will allow school transportation programs to
get quotes, purchase direct and have the SafeGuard STAR shipped
directly to their facility.

it is to use the SafeGuard STAR and its one buckle quick release.
