IMMI pioneers school bus safety with the SafeGuard School Bus Safety Seat, the first school bus seat to offer lap-shoulder seat belts.

IMMI opens IMMI Ltd., a manufacturing facility, in Cramlington, United Kingdom to better serve our European customers.

The Roll Sensor joins Indiana Mills' long list of highly sophisticated technology for commercial vehicles. The Roll Sensor continuously monitors vehicle tilt angle and rate of roll. When a roll occurs, it activates up to eight safety devices such as inflatable side air bags and seat belt pretensioners to protect the occupants.

Indiana Mills & Manufacturing, Inc. starts doing business as IMMI, adopting the slogan "Bringing Safety to People" and changing the logo to represent a sphere of safety around occupants.

RollTek was introduced in 2003 and is the only occupant restraint system of its kind for the Class 8 vehicle market which includes On Highway trucks and Fire /Rescue vehicles.

The SafeGuard STAR was introduced at the 2003 NAPT trade show. STAR is the only cam wrap style restraint available for school bus seats that incorporates a cam wrap and 5 point restraint and does not require the use of a lap belt

In 2003, IMMI introduced the new construction buckle (C2) with a design that sheds dirt, thereby extending the life of the buckle. Additionally, the Scraper Boot is provided for Off-Highway application - it removes dirt and mud from the web before it can enter the retractor mechanism. These two designs extend the life of seatbelts in dirty or muddy conditions.

IMMI’s SafeGuard brand launches the SafeGuard for Kids public awareness campaign to communicate the need for seat belts on school buses. Targeting parents and school officials, the SafeGuard for Kids Campaign included television commercials, print advertisements, a new web site, and a free video and information booklet.
